Getting started
What Demarka does
On this page
Demarka is a trademark clearance platform. It answers three different questions, with three different tools. Picking the right one saves you both time and money.
Search — “does anything similar already exist?”
Search looks for trademarks that resemble yours across national trademark registers and the WIPO Madrid system. It runs in seconds, returns a ranked list of similar marks, and tells you why each one matched — same spelling, same sound, a visual lookalike, a number equivalent and so on.
Search does not tell you whether you can register your mark. It tells you what is already out there.
Start here for every new name. It costs nothing on any plan beyond your monthly search allowance.
Assessment — “can I actually register this?”
An assessment is a full registrability analysis of one mark in one jurisdiction. It takes a few minutes, is written by an AI trained on that country’s practice, and produces a report that covers:
- a Registration Outlook — Clear, Minor issues, At Risk or Critical
- a per-class forecast with a success chance and the obstacles behind it
- absolute grounds (is the mark distinctive, descriptive, deceptive, prohibited?)
- relative grounds (which earlier marks could actually block you, and how badly)
- concrete recommendations for improving your chances
An assessment costs one credit per jurisdiction. Checking a name in five countries is five credits and five reports.
Use it once search has shown you the landscape and you need a filing decision.
Monitoring — “is anyone filing something that threatens me?”
Monitoring watches the registers for you. You set a mark, its classes and the countries you care about; Demarka re-runs the same similarity search twice a week and emails you when a new, potentially conflicting filing appears.
Monitoring is measured in slots: one slot watches one mark in one region for as long as your plan is active, or for 12 months if you fund it with a credit.
Use it after you file, and for competitors and brands you want to keep an eye on.
A typical sequence
- Search the name in your target countries. Free, instant, repeatable.
- If it looks viable, run an assessment in the countries you actually intend to file in.
- File, either through your own attorney or through Demarka.
- Turn on monitoring so you hear about conflicting filings early enough to oppose them.
What Demarka is not
Demarka is not a law firm and its reports are not legal advice. The analysis is a well-informed, evidence-backed prediction that helps you decide where to spend money on filings and where to change course. For a binding opinion, or for representation before an office, work with a qualified trademark attorney.
