Simple search

Simple search is the default tab on the Demarka home page. It asks for three things and does the rest itself.

The three fields

Trademark name

The name, word or phrase you are checking. Case and punctuation do not matter.

You do not need to guess at variants. Demarka expands the query itself, matching marks that sound alike, look alike, differ by a transliteration, swap digits for words, rearrange words, or differ by a few characters.

Countries

Every market where you plan to trade. Two things happen automatically:

• Regional and international registers are added for you. Selecting Germany also searches the EU trademark register and the WIPO Madrid system, because marks held there are in force in Germany.
• Historic registers are searched where relevant, so older marks that are still cited are not missed.

Use Select all if you want a global picture, Reset to start again.

NICE classes

The goods and services your mark will cover. Select from the 45-class grid under Browse classes, or answer a few questions under Help me choose and let Demarka propose them. The link What are classes? opens a short explainer inside the app.

All three fields are required before Search becomes active.

While the search runs

Demarka queries each register in turn and shows a live counter — “Searched 14 of 22 registries”. Leave the page open until it finishes.

Shortcuts on the form

• Recent searches — up to three chips above the form refill it with one click. The ✕ removes one.
• Reset form clears every field at once.
• Links from Demarka’s marketing pages can pre-fill the name and countries for you.

How results are ranked

Results come back ordered by relevance, which combines how closely the mark matches, whether the classes overlap, and whether the mark is live. Every card carries a Why similar? control that lists the exact mechanisms behind that particular hit, so you can tell a genuine near-collision from a coincidental one.

When to switch to Advanced search

Use Advanced search when you want to look up a specific mark by number, find everything a company owns, restrict by filing date, or switch individual matching techniques off.
